Brown

ED rejection

Dear John Doe,

The Board of Admission has completed its evaluation of over 4,500 Early Decision applications, and it is with great regret that I inform you that we are unable to offer you a place in the incoming class at Brown University.

The Early Decision program was created to give applicants as clear an admission decision as possible early in their senior year, and in time to submit other applications. Our decision is not a reflection of your talents and accomplishments, but is unfortunately indicative of the reality of the intense competition for admission to Brown. While 1,665 first year students enter Brown annually, we anticipate that more than 38,000 highly qualified students will apply this year. We find ourselves in the difficult position of being unable to admit a great many of the students we would like to have here.

The members of the Board are very aware of the disappointment this letter may bring you and want you to know that they have made every effort to make the same decision on your application in December that they would have made in late March. Our Early Decision deliberations reflect our awareness of competition for places in the entering class and our obligation under Early Decision to help students in their transition to college by advising them early - even when the decision may cause unhappiness.

We know that you will have a successful college career and we wish you the best as you pursue your college plans. On behalf of the Board of Admission, I want to thank you for taking the time to prepare your application, and for your interest in Brown.

Yours sincerely,

Logan Powell

Dean of Admission

RD Rejection

Dear John,

Thank you for the opportunity to consider your application for admission with the freshman class entering in Fall 2020. Our admission committee has carefully reviewed your application and supporting credentials and despite your fine record and accomplishments, we are unable to offer you a place in the Information Systems Joint Dietrich/Heinz program or School of Computer Science.

Please do not consider this to be a reflection of your academic ability but rather an indication of the overwhelmingly large applicant pool and our inability to offer admission to every qualified applicant. We are disappointed we could not accept more of the outstanding candidates who applied to Carnegie Mellon this year. We hope you understand the difficulty in selecting such a small number from the many qualified applicants in this year's applicant pool.

We appreciate your interest in Carnegie Mellon and the time and effort involved in submitting your application.

If our Office of Admission can be of any further assistance, please feel free to write or call. Our admission staff will be happy to help you with your college plans. We wish you every success in your future educational endeavors.

Sincerely,

Gregory A. Edleman

We recognize the excellent work you have demonstrated to this point and would like the opportunity to consider your fall grades and application in the context of our entire applicant pool. In the meantime, we encourage you to share updates such as accomplishments and additional insight on your interest in attending Georgia Tech.

Waitlist

John,

The Committee for Undergraduate Admission has reviewed your application to the Georgia Institute of Technology. This year, we received nearly 41,000 applications for a first-year class of only 3,250.

At this time, we are unable to offer you admission; however, because of the impressive performance you have demonstrated throughout your high school career, we hope you will consider joining our waitlist. More information about the waitlist is available on our website.

You must accept or decline your waitlist spot by Monday, April 6, 2020 via your admission portal. Students on the waitlist are evaluated based upon the information originally submitted in their application. There is nothing further you need to submit after completing the form in your portal.

After the May 1 deposit deadline we will determine if we have met our class goal and contact you if space becomes available. If you have any questions, please contact our office.

Sincerely,

Rick Clark
